||Dr. Julie Sullivan became the first lay person and the first woman to serve as president of St. Thomas on July 1, 2013.
She came to St. Thomas from the University of San Diego, where she was executive vice president and provost since 2005. Previously she was a professor in the Rady School of Management and the School of International Relations and Pacific Studies at the University of California, San Diego (2003-2005); the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School (1987-2003); and the University of Oklahoma (1983-1987).
Sullivan is an internationally known scholar and educator in accounting and taxation. She has held numerous professional leadership positions, including director of research and executive committee member of the American Accounting Association and editorial board member of The Accounting Review and the National Tax Journal. Sullivan has undergraduate, master’s and Ph.D. degrees in business and accounting from the University of Florida.
